Castlevania games do a lot of jump-hits for faster attacks, so I needed to still be near spacebar too. Then I wanted something different from the normal FPS controls because with one hand it's easy to angle the keyboard for comfort. Since I like to have lots of options (on FPS I use EDSF, not WASD) and the arrows feel kinda awkward, I started using numpad and binding all kinds of extras to 12379/*-+0. However, for some odd reason, when I do a platformer style game on keyboard, I can't do movement with left hand. I'm odd with a controller, I'm used to movement w/left hand, actions on right. When I don't use a controller, this is how I play platformers: Originally posted by Man'sLaughter:Simsala, I'd rec the following, if your brain can work around the need to correspond the keys in a line as shown on the screen (i.e. I'd probably use Num0 for Swap, Use, or Use item, that key is nice & easy to find with the thumb. Space for jump (Up needs to be to climb & is awkward to jump & move at same time). You can slide pinky over to F pretty easy for your Use items in RoR, or other fingers up/down/sideways for other keys in whatever way is most comfortable. This allowed my index & middle to do the heaviest key pressing, and pinkie/ring for extras. When I played Shank this way, J was basic attack, M heavy, and G/H Grab/block/whatever. IMO this is very natural feeling, where your left hand can rest at a slight inward angle (not straight have elbow angled to your chair arm, ~45 degrees). When I don't use a controller, this is how I play platformers:Īttacks: ghjm (rest your left hand with middle finger on the H key, index bent slighly down to M).
